Interference

By mommycooks - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, my family came over for Thanksgiving. We were supposed to have had dinner hours ago, but my mom kept sneaking into the kitchen and dialing down the temperature on the oven, claiming I was going to overcook everything. At this rate, we'll be lucky to have eaten by midnight. FML

Well, at least you can thank her for one thing: spending more time with your family! They're all going to wait until the turkey's done, right?

Well, by that point it won't matter what the food tastes like, people gonna eat that shit 'til it's goneeee. :)

Or started stabbing each other/themselves with them...

I heard one fella got stabbed with two of them.

Just get drunk and watch out for the carving forks... :D

Well when you're that hungry, your cousins start to look pretty appetizing... Or is that just me?

Moms seem to be too controlling when it comes to big family meals; apparently, they're the only ones who know how to cook properly. That's why I won't bother hosting Thanksgiving. I'm sure my mom would do that same thing as OP's mom.

Mommy always knows best! Unless it comes to cooking a turkey. Then she pisses everyone off. Don't be that mom.

she probably doesn't like your cooking and wanted to delay the meal time until it was too late to eat

I'd let her cook it and just relax, and let everyone else get mad at her for a late dinner

Where? The only places open on thanksgiving are Dennys, Ihop and shitty fast food places that are 24 hours.

That's not true. I had to work this afternoon until 5:30. I work at a bar and we don't even serve turkey on our menu. :P ***It's funny, the tips were amazing because people gave me extra because they claimed to feel sorry that I had to even work today at all. (I had to bite my tongue and not tell them, "I wouldn't have to work if people like you didn't show up" Lol)

I've heard of bars being open on thanksgiving and Christmas but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about RESTAURANTS, you don't take your whole family to a bar for food on Thanksgiving.

You should keep in mind, many restaurants also have bars and most bars also serve food. (and not just wings and such but an extensive menu) Believe me, there are lots of places that were open. (at least where I live. I'm in Miami, FL) Many of my friends in the business also had to work at their upscale "restaurant". (: Hey, people have to eat, right? :P

Here in OK Golden Corral is open on thanksgiving

Well here the only thing that was open were the 24 hour restaurants, I live in Texas. Also you could of mentioned that the bar was also a restaurant, I assumed bar with shitty bar food. I'm sorry you had to work and serve assholes that were to lazy to cook for themselves :-/

Fast food places, diners and bars are better than starving.

Too true :,( On the bright side, this will make a great story at her wake. (Evil thought: tell her this, now.)

Holy hell! I just woke up from the best-- after turkey nap! Look on the bright side, OP by the time you finish eating, it should be the best night's sleep ever!
