It's the thought that counts

By Not a day over 35 - 18/06/2013 13:06 - United States - Anchorage

Today, I turned 29. To celebrate, my office got me a cake that read "Happy 38th!!" The "theme" of the "party" was 'Not a day over 35!' I waited all day for someone to tell me it was all a prank, but nobody did. I spent my lunch hour crying in my car. Happy birthday to me. FML

I personally think it depends. I think that if it was a woman in question, she'd be insulted that they thought she was so "old".

O.P IS a woman. See the female sign?

Dying! Don't worry think about it this way when you were younger you wanted people to think you were older

Yes, yes they did. She apparently looks 35.

Awww poor OP!! Now I don't feel so bad when a receptionist called me out for being alone at the gynecologist clinic because she thought I was 12, but I was 22 at the time. :( I will never take being thought younger than I am for granted again. FYL :( If I were you, I'd just brush it off and still try to have a great day. Happy 29th Birthday!!

So...cake, party, people who obviously cared enough to plan it out and attend? Seems like a small thing to fuss over in the long run. Cheer up, since how old you look doesn't really matter. Suck it up, princess.

38 is pretty precise - they probably don't think you look 38 - but maybe someone got confused and misheard or something and thought this was your age and you just looked very young for your age.

At least they remembered your birthday. My birthday is on Christmas Day, nobody I've ever worked with has ever even given me a half a thought on my birthday! I don't ever blame them though, Christmas is a stressful holiday lol
