Unfortunately family and friends are not always equipped to deal with or even notice the signs of depression. Furthermore their own parents probably taught them to deny the possibility of mental distress so they do likewise. (1) Don’t expect your loved ones to guess how you feel inside. You have to tell them. (2) Serious depression and other mental/emotional conditions require professional help. (3) You will survive. No matter how bad it feels now, you will feel better at some point. But you may need professional mental health help to get there.
