Today, while at the restaurant I work at, a bunch of kids came in. They all gave incredibly complex orders, laughed at everything I did, and made a huge mess by "spilling" hot sauce and water all over the floor. After they left, I was tipped eleven cents. FML

OP, FYL that really sucks. I know how you feel. and amazinggbaby, of course she's working for tips. she works in a restaurant waiting on people. it's not like she's working for the hourly pay. most servers make about $2.13 an hour that's why tips are so crucial. tips are what makes up their paycheck. that's why this is an FML...he or she did all that work just for 11 cents. waste of time and that's insulting.

Seriously everyone, calm the **** down and stop pointing fingers... this is just as much the kids parents fault as it is the kids.. yeah the kids were assholes to the hard-working waitress, but thanks to the modern cultures ****** up view on parenthood as being one of selfishness, parents are too focused with what they want rather than the needs of their children. So, the parent decides to watch tv instead of teaching his/her child important life lessons/manners because they think it's the schools job to teach their children everything... parents can't just expect for their kids to learn everything on their own and be fine. sure they'll get it right on their own eventually, but not until after they've done their share of hellraising and barn burning..

You can't automatically assume that their parents are to blame for their obnoxious behavior. I know plenty of kids who have completely decent parents and their behavior at home or in front or their parents is polite and considerate but once they're with their friends, they turn into complete douchebags. It's not always the parents that are the ones to be blamed.

It depends on the age of the "kids." If they're, say, a middle-school group on a field trip, adults are likely to blame in one way or another. If they're old enough to drive themselves unchaperoned to the restaurant, it's their own damn fault. Acting like asses is public is very obviously rude by that age, and common courtesy is something easily learned even if you have asshole parents. I guarantee you they'd be bitching among themselves if there was a screaming kid nearby. Plus, most teens either work customer service jobs where tips are a part of payment, or they have friends who do. They should DEFINITELY know better.
