just remind her that you ARE a nurse and an adult and more than qualified to make your own decisions in life and without a doubt know more about this subject considering your profession
Wonder what she'd say about my L&D RN wife that worked until she was 39-1 with our last kid. She was on shift when she went into labor.
Tell her to mind her own business and tell her if she doesn't, she'll never see your child
Allow me to play the devil's advocate here...you're a nurse, therefore potentially exposed to countless pathogens that most people are rarely (if ever) exposed to. While it IS far-fetched, I can understand your mother-in-law's concern.
well thank her for her concern and then inform her that at the hospital the doctor checks up on you and is well aware when to let you take a break
Carla?
You should probably look for another babysitter. If she's going to bitch about this, there's a chance she's gonna pull crap like feeding your child food they're allergic too because "we never had allergies back in my day, and our kids turned out fine!" or swaddling your child til they get heatstroke because "back in my day, we were ALWAYS told to do this and our kids turned out fine!"
Kick her out o the house. It's your baby and your life. Plus a nurse knows better than some crazy mother in law
Sounds like your M-I-L is a complete moron. Good luck with that.

Good luck when the baby is born
If you're working when you go into labour, it will be like nurse's inception.
