Meddling

Today, my obnoxious mother-in-law berated me in front of my husband's family for still working while pregnant. She says I'm harming the baby by not quitting. I'm only four months pregnant and I work as a nurse at a hospital. FML

Good luck when the baby is born

If you're working when you go into labour, it will be like nurse's inception.

What the Hell is wrong with you OP?!?! *sarcasm*

You selfish, materialistic money-grubber. You should be on 9 months of bedrest in order for your baby to turn out OK. That's why so many of us are ****** up.

I can't work out if this is sarcasm/trolling or not.

Tell her that if she wants to pay you the wages you'll lose by quitting before necessary, you'll be happy to do so.

I'm being b*tched at by my mother-in-law about me not having a job right at the moment while I'm pregnant! I've worked since I was 14.

working wont hurt the baby as long as u arent smoking pr drinking the baby will be fine

In a way I agree with the mother in law because you're working around sick people all the time and if you get sick so will the baby and that might harm the baby's development. But on the other hand she shouldn't be bitching so much because you still have ways to go and are helping out and making a difference in other people's lives.

Most people in a hospital don't have the Flu or contagious things unless she works in the ER she is probably ok

aslo if shes pregnant she has probably been moved to somewhere safer for her in the hospital i.e. away from gastro and infectious wards.

Again-nurses in hospitals know what can and cannot affect their unborn child and they take assignments to patients based on that. It's common practice that if Joe Blow, the patient in room 304 has the flu then nurse prego will not be assigned to him and never enter his room. Plus he will already be in isolation precautions and all staff entering his room will wear protective gear... Hence she would be highly unlikely to contract the flu even if she did work that room. I'm an RN at a hospital and have a 18 week old baby. Take it from someone who knows

Bullshit! She obviously thinks she knows everything even though you are the one in the medical field! My doctor told me to stay active as much as I could because my baby was huge! I ran a goddamn half marathon when I was pregnant and my now three year old hasn't had as much as a diaper rash...thank god!

She's wrong if she was being a bitch, which I think sometimes people exaggerate on here to get the audience on their side. But working in a hospital/nursing home can be very stressful and hazardous. I knew someone doing clinicals that got blood in a wound and got hep.

I hope you hubby told his mom to STFU. If he let her talk to you like that, he's a spineless pussy.
