Mix up

Today, it's my birthday. I called my mom to thank her for the gift she'd sent. She was surprised and said, "Oh I thought you were waiting to open it." She ended the conversation with, "OK, I'll call you on your birthday." FML

What if you've had your birthday wrong all along? My grandmother thought hers was in June for 60 years until they found her birth certificate and it was actually July.

Eh, no need to worry, OP. She probably just got you confused with one of her other daughters from her secret families. It's difficult to keep all that stuff straight, especially when one child enters adulthood and leaves.

Awww, that sucks OP. I think it was just genuine confusion though, I'm sure she actually cares about you. Happy Birthday, btw! :)

don't take it personally. today, my dad forgot it was his birthday because he had his days mixed up. could happen to anybody

Honestly OP, it happens. My parents always remembered what my birthday was when I was a kid but now that I'm an adult and they have grandkids, they have so many birthdays to remember. It's a natural effect of aging.

I start reminding family two weeks out, and then two days before. People have things going on and it slips their mind. You can't fault them for it. Been married almost six years, and he starts getting reminders a month out. Why? Because it wouldn't be fair to him if he has a lot going on at work. So just a quick, "oh man, this important event is happening!"

Happy belated Birthday, OP. :)

It sounds like she misremembered what day it was that day, not what day your birthday is on.

I did not understand this FML. Could someone explain???????? Please

You're actually doing better than me. My mom never remembers my birthday at all. One year she asked me to help her with a lot of work around the house. I thought it was to keep me distracted so people could set up a surprise party. Nope she just dropped me off back at my place and I celebrated alone.
