That's the oldest man trick in the book. Screw up chores to let the womenfolk do them properly.
down voters might not like it, but its definitely a thing.
It's his own dumb fault. How do you not detect the weight of a Nintendo in your bed sheets? And maybe he shouldn't leave it in his sheets when it's not in use. There are things called night stands and dressers, or even the floor.
Take his tv and tell him he can earn it back by doing his chores. Then tell him he can earn $ doing chores (not a ton of $, maybe make a list and put a dollar amount for each thing done) and HE can save up to buy up a new Nintendo. Don't just replace it or he will never learn how much you work for his things, the value of a dollar, or how to take care of stuff.
I don't understand kids not doing what they're told. How does that work. Seriously.
For better or worse, some kids need a reason. "Because I said so" or "I'm the parent you're the child" doesn’t cut it.

so he stripped his bed, without noticing his Nintendo on it.....tell him he can earn money to get a new one.....by doing chores
"and now you've learned to try to pay more attention while doing chores" (unless he has adhd or similar, in which case, treatment can help)
