Today, I had to repeatedly explain to my nosy, interfering, clingy, no-concept-of-personal-space mom that I'm not okay with her moving into my new house, or the same neighborhood, or even the same goddamn state as me when I get married next week. FML

Just tell her that her behaviour is pushing you away and ruining your relationship with her. If she keeps it up she's going to lose you, hopefully that will help make a difference.

But what if it's on the state line border? Loopholes! Always remember to cover possible loopholes!

I hate it when I read FMĹs like these

Love how you can always count on two main camps in regards to the FML crowd when it comes to family issues: The ones that say you should love family regardless of what they do to you, and the ones that think family should have the same rules as any healthy relationship.

I'll never get the hate and ungrateful nature westerners have towards their parents. The lack of empathy is disturbing and lack of foresight, you might be parents yourself one day, do you want your kids to throw you away like trash as well.

If I treat them badly, am terrible to them, or anything like that yes I would be okay with them doing that. Sometimes children are ungrateful, but I'd say a lot of times they have a good reason.

So if you got married, you would want your mom to follow you everywhere and live in your house? Did you not read the FML, the mom doesn't have any concept of personal space. There is a reason that OP doesn't want her mother that close.

There was a time when you lived in her uterus. Talk about personal space.

She chose to have her, or at least follow through. You don't owe your parents anything for your existence because it wasn't a favor to you, you didn't even have a say.

i have same issue. its wired how you can love someone but not like them.?!

My mother-in-law recently mentioned in passing that if she ever can't get around by herself any longer, she'll just move in with us. She lives in a one storey home. We have spiral stairs and the guest room is on the lower level.
