Not a good look

Today, I was really excited because the girl I'd liked since freshman year asked me out. She came to my house and my mom decided to show her baby pictures of me with tampons up my nose because I'd had a nose bleed. Even worse, there was one picture of me when I was 15 doing the same thing. FML

Seriously who cares about this crap? If your potential beau actually looks on that negatively they're a prick and not worth your time, otherwise its an amusing anecdote for your wedding. Honestly, the things people on here seem to think matter depresses me.

actually, as an ATC, we do that all the time to our athletes who get nose bleeds.

Hmm, so much material here we better stick to the main points. First, if you like a chick, you ask her out. I know, it's a leap but go ahead and take it. Second, you need to get a handle on your zany Mom or take control of your date and meet the object of your infatuation outside of the insane assylum you call home. Last but not least, as a male, you have no need for tampons and anything else normally associated with feminine hygiene. Simple enough, right?

Tampons absorb blood. He has a mother. He might have had a terrible nose bleed. While embarrassing to see in a picture, if it blocks the blood better than a towel why not use it? On top of that, guys need to learn about feminine hygiene so they know what to do if they have a daughter. I am not saying you have to learn everything there is to know, but being squeamish about tampons is like saying you can't touch clean toilet paper because someone, in the future, might shit on it. It's a dumb rule. Your manhood does not rely on being as completely different from a female as possible. You're a guy, so what? If the tampon stopped the blood then he used it for its purpose. His mother doesn't sound crazy, she sounds a little enthusiastic. Obviously she cares about her son and wants to share her joy with others. Op needs to talk to her about what is appropriate with certain people.
