Today, my dad was helping my fiancé and me move. On the way, someone sideswiped the trailer. When the police came, we found my dad had a suspended license, no insurance, and a broken tail light. No one else could drive a manual, so we were stuck in a parking lot for 3 hours. Thanks, dad. FML

Has it never occurred to you that being able to drive a standard is a good thing. Everybody should know how.

Over here, everyone gets a manual and automatics license because no one wants to be limited to just one type. What's so hard about that?

What kinda douche can't drive a manual...

only in America.. What is your plan if you guys are travelling and end up with a stickshift? And fyi all Americans out there: manuals is not on it's way out in other countries. Automatics takes the fun out of driving...

Not all Americans are morons. I drive a five speed myself. Dad wouldn't let me touch an automatic until I could drive a manual, change oil, a tire. I recently helped some idiot European, (Hey, I can stereotype too!) that couldn't change his tire on his too-expensive, plastic car.

Some of the reason I wrote that post was because i get annoyed when ppl stereotype an entire country. But then you have all of those people that comment while in their own bubble and think everything is the same as in Usa. Good on you and your father, the things you were taught, really should've been requirements to obtain a license. In the end, there are VERY few ppl that is unable to learn a manual. However some picks it up faster then others.

Uh why is everyone so offended by people saying they should learn to drive a manual? It's kinda ******* sad that people honestly think its not important and that its hard to learn. It took me one time to learn how to do it. People are so lazy now a days :/

It's just that us Americans are useless and are to lazy to drive manuals.

Also, if you're driving a manual it's good to have people with you that can drive a manual in case of an emergency. FYL OP. I'm just saying, if your dad was posting this it would be a YDI

YDI for you and your cull fiance not knowing how to drive a stick.
