Today, our school went to an elementary school to read to the kids. One of the girls in my group asked me if she could switch into another group, so I asked her what was wrong with mine. She said, "Nothing, I wanna be in her group. She's prettier." I was insulted by a kindergartner. FML

Today, at the elementary school where I teach, the kids all voted for their favorite teacher. I was the only one to receive zero votes. When I asked a small group of students why no one voted for me, one boy replied "because you're the ugliest". FML

Today, at preschool, I got to meet the mother of my daughter's best friend. She complimented mine's grades, and noted her quirkiness. I complimented her's for being congenial and being well-rounded. Later, my daughter said they are no longer besties because her mom said I called her daughter fat. FML

Today, while I was substitute teaching a middle school class, a boy, named Chris, refused to get in the boy's line for the bathroom. After I had said, "Chris, what makes you think you're a girl?" in a very loud voice, one of the other students said "She is a girl." I've scarred a child for life. FML

Today, I unwillingly transferred to a private from a public school this year, due to my parent's rampant political beliefs. Some of the popular girls I went to school with in elementary school also attend this school. I smiled at one of them in the hallway when I saw them this morning. She saw me and rolled her eyes. FML

#1: When correcting people's writing, you should write correctly yourself. (Also, "kindergardeners" is what this site accepts as correct; "kindergarteners" gets underlined in red. So, maybe she can spell and it's fmylife.com that can't.) OP: You've got to love them.

It is kindergartner. Merriam-webster.com is great. And to the German major, pay attention and you'll notice that American English is very different from the queen's English, and therefore, all European roots are nearly worthless in terms of trying to spell a word "correctly".

You shouldn't be insulted by that. Kids are not only brutally honest, but sometimes they just say things to get a rise out of you. One of the Kindergartners at the school I'm working at told me "I'm smarter than you!" I just thought it was cute. :-)
