Panic!

Today, I was at the doctor and I had to get a fingerstick in the lab to get blood drawn. There was a 6 year-old boy waiting to go next. He was terrified. His mother told him to, "Watch this brave girl go first." I panicked and began to hyperventilate. The kid fainted. FML

i take it that the op is one of those people who will start bawling if they get poked in the stomach with a dull pencil.

I love the mental image of this. Adding to my favs.

I love hearing people complain about teeny tiny little finger pricks or a little prick from a needle. I have to do that ******* shit every day just to stay alive. Type One Diabetes isn't fun.

That sucks. But I guess it comes with how much exposure you get to needles. I've never been scared because frankly, I never cared, just so long as they don't lecture me about it. My brother, who is six now, isn't afraid either. His iron and potassium levels were extremely low, and he wouldn't eat much. So he was taken to the hospital often to get fluids and such put into him. He's used to needles now after going to the hospital nearly every other week for his first 3 years of his life, so again, I believe the amount of exposure may have something to do with it.

adults with fear of sharp pointy things or pain are ******* ridiculous

I hope you have since learned that there really is nothing to fear when it comes to needles. Although if you still have this issue in the present year of 2015 perhaps you can try breathing exercises or just not go alone when needles are involved at doctor visits.
