its the life we live, we're never truly appreciated... our work/hardship isn't seen so they're ignorant to our battles
I agree...im a vet too...after 9/11 we were all celebrated as heros and now we are less than nothing.
Me, too! Until we, as a society, work every day to bring dignity to veterans and workers, we should cancel Veterans, Memorial and Labor Days. They are hypocritical and insulting. If we want paid holidays for things we really care about, we ought to have Corporation Day, Celebrity Day, Sports Day and Alcohol Day, just to name a few.
Have you talked to a spiritual leader? Moral injury can be devastating--the VA can help with your back and knee injuries, but you're not going to get anywhere psychologically until you deal with your idea that your soul is tainted. I can tell you right now that your soul is NOT tainted--even if you did bad things, you probably did them trying to defend others, and that matters--but you need to work with someone who's better at spiritual stuff to deal with this.
as a current active duty soldier, I appreciate what people like you gave, no matter the day. keep your head up. All American.

As an ailing veteran, I totally understand how you feel. However, while not the best, the VA hospital is getting better. If you haven't filed claims for service related injuries you may want to look into that. Reach out to me if you have questions or just want to vent.
