Problematic language

Today, at my new retail job, I accidentally referred to white tank tops as, "Wife beaters." That's what I thought they were actually called, until my boss had to correct me. FML

I hope you didn't get in trouble, thats super common slang so I hope they understood.

I have literally never heard them referred to as anything other than a "Wifebeater" obviously depending on the audience I may just say a "white top" but it is a Wifebeater....

That’s what we call them here in Aust

If you're working a job in im guessing clothing retail, it doesn't look good for the company if their employee doesn't know what the proper name for the garment is.

Slang or not, anyone with half a brain should know there's a proper term for the shirt... sorry but YDI.

And what would that name be? I know there is one, but I’ve never heard it ever in my entire life. They’ve always been “wife bearers” or “white shirts.”
