She sounds toxic.
Assuming these older movies that are a part of our shared culture heritage do not trigger your memories of past hurt, I would suggest watching a few of them. Practically ever movie is available as a video disk or from a streaming service - Amazon Prime has a lot of the older movies. Try one, if it doesn’t trouble you then it’s a way to catch up with our shared culture… Bear in mind that people of different regions, culture, and periods will have different cultural icons. I grew up with the Disney classics and taking my children to Disney movies and these are part of my cultural heritage. My wife didn’t see any Disney movies, to the best of my knowledge, but her parents took her to “Fiddler on the Roof” on broadway and that’s part of her cultural heritage.
Sorry for your trauma but it does mean you get to experience all those cool movies for the first time. Perhaps you could even watch them with your MIL as a bonding experience.
your partner should be stepping up and handling their mother. it's fair to set a boundary that if she brings it up she will be kicked from your house/you will leave hers, and stick to it
