Put this in a more situationally aware point of view: His friend may be already AT the garage: He may be trying to get money from his insurance: His minutes may be up Alot of things could have happened. Maybe the fact that his car had a mirror missing would make it undrivable? He may have points on his licence? Think about it.

You're from MA... The left side is the driver's side, so this doesn't make any sense...
"Correct", "Yes", "Yeah", or other, similar words would have worked just as well.
