Sounds like my would-be Mother-in-Law, so i have the deepest of sympathy for you.

My grandmother did that when my father rang to tell her the first grandchild (me) was on the way. She said that's nice and started telling my dad about her cold. Some people are assholes. Sorry op.

So it was my fiancé who was the original poster (he doesn't have an account :P) his mother had been a nightmare since the go ahead, claimed it was totally out of the blue (the engagement) despite him telling her months ago he was going to do it and for the people who are wondering - it was little clumps of blood. It was basically her excuse not to be excited. But, we are absolutely over the moon so that is what matters most to us - she will come round! Hopefully...
