gross. the old apartment I used to live in was the bottom half of a really old house~old windows, improperly sealing doors, all that crap~the January that I lived there, the heating bill was 400 bucks, the thermostat was only set to 65 degrees!
It was so high because the estate agent that read the metre before we moved in got it wrong, hopfully they will put it right on our behalf though!
you need turtle meter readers. eliminate human error. your landlord intentionally read it wrong so not to pay a higher bill for the time the apt sat vacant.
Um... no, you just don't. Most people know that £ is pounds, the English equivalent of dollars.
No, dollars are the equivalent of pounds sterling. Which is, incidentally, the world's oldest currency still in use. And if you don't know what £ means, you are an imbecile. Read some newspapers or Time or something.
I'd say 6 years old, personally.
Pounds sterling for the win :) And it's not the equivalent to USD, it's worth about $1.4
hahah... true that! I'll say one thing. Some people really get this "holier than thou" complex on here and think they're super geniuses. Then they leave these comments that make me just scratch my head in disbelief. 400 pounds is a crap ton of money in US $. I think something obviously went wrong. Either human error, someone tampering i dunno. Could be anything. But i'm surprised they electric company told you to read the meter yourself. That just doesn't make sense.
its pound.
One good idea is turn off/unplug all power/outlets and go check the meter then. If its still counting, then either a) you have something severely wrong with the meter or b) someone is stealing your electricity. My friends found out they were paying for the apartment next door for 1.5 years. The landlord told that neighbour that her electricity was covered under her rent-but didn't tell my friends they were paying for it. *Have someone come over and service your meter anyways-just to be sure.
fake. how do you expect us to believe this when you don't even write "$" /s
Just because your ignorance has withheld you from understanding basic currency symbols, that doesn't mean that this FML is fake. Get a life.

What the ****? Really do you need that many lights for the obvious pot farm in your flat.
Shocked at your electric bill? Good one! I'm guessing the meter reader was an idiot, but they gave you a penalty for illegally reading your own?
