Ultimately, it sounds like he has a lot of unresolved issues surrounding his ex-girlfriend then. Maybe deep down, he's still not over it? If we assume that he was 13 when she died as well, that's a really young age to lose someone so dear to you. Be there for him and convince him to have grievance counselling.
While this seems stupid and unreasonable, OP, there are probably underlying causes. The fact that he was able to give you up so easily over a dream suggests that the four years were not quite as happy as you thought. Still, you have my sympathy. Breakups suck, especially when you dont agree with the reason.
If that was all it took those 4 years might not have been as happy for him as they were for you. :/ Or he's psycho...one of the two.
sounds like he did you a favor
Never chase ghosts.
obviously you're better off
What if it was just his excuse to dump her? Don't hate me for saying it >
I'm 15 (my birthday was just a few days ago as you can see on my profile). So while I was 14, I got my first girlfriend, we have gone through so much together, and I love her as much as someone my age can possibly love someone. If this isn't true love than I can't imagine what true love really is. We were together for almost a year, until her parents found out, and unbeknownst to us they did not approve of her being in a relationship until college. But I refused to give up on her, just have to wait a few years ;)

Poor guy. It seems like her death really affected him. I think he needs to go to grief counseling; it might help him.
