Today, I was comforting my friend who has a toxic relationship with her Mom. She said, "If I'm such a failure, they always make it known that I can't live up to their expectations." It caught me a bit off guard when she said, "I wish she would just leave me alone and leave my life just like your mom did." FML

I'm sorry your mom left you, but it seems like your friend has a pretty bad relationship with her mom when she would wish for her not to be in her life I wish the best for both of you!

Sounds like a case of the grass being greener over the septic tank. She's focused on how much better she thinks her life would be if her mom weren't part of it, but she's in so much pain right now that she can't wrap her mind around the negative effects you've experienced due to your mom's absence. Things always look better when you can't see the shit under the surface. I hope that both of you are able to heal.
