A person doesn't automatically turn into a good person just because they're dead. If you didn't want the truth spoken at the funeral, you shoulda made your son sit down.
I would recommend talking to a trauma therapist to achieve real closure. Clearly your son is carrying a burden.

If your son was willing to give the eulogy, and you were willing to let him knowing he wouldn't be civil...how much did the people who DIDN'T give the eulogy hate him?
The funeral isn't for the dead person, they're dead and don't care one way or the other. The funeral is for the family to have closure. If this is the way your son gains closure for having a shitty father, why are you defending a dead person who didn't do enough in life to deserve his son's respect?
