Make him really regret it. Relinquishing parental rights does not absolve him from child support. Get your divorce attorney to negotiate really high child support and alimony. If the house is in your name as well, secure that for yourself and your kids.
Not wanting shared custody is NOT the same as giving up his parental rights. He may just have plans to spend his nights at the bar, or traveling for whatever reason and he won't be able to properly care for the kids. I fully agree that he is a piece of dung for even thinking something like that. Full custody should mean more child support for darn sure.
