They see me rollin'…

Today, I got to work and saw a new desk had been setup on stilts. "Oh, who got the standing desk?" I asked. Turns out it's for the guy in the wheelchair who was right behind me. It needs to be high so the controls of his wheelchair can fit under the desk. FML

Him being right behind you makes you look a little dumb, yes, but otherwise it was an honest mistake and you weren't making fun or him or anything so I dont see why an apology and just going on with your day wouldn't fix everything here...

I don't understand how what he said was a problem. It sounded like a legitimate question, and the way OP worded it, he wasn't reading someone. So, I wouldn't have really been offended.

Well at least you stood up and admitted you did something foolish.

Mistakes happen. I hope you guys were able to laugh it off.

You should just check things out first before making a remark on it...YDI

Well, I don't see anything wrong with that statement...?? You were just curious and the disabled person probably didn't mind and maybe they will let you know as to why they are disabled and you will become good friends!!??!! Maybe? I don't know...awkward though I guess...I seem to put my foot in my mouth at times too OP...he/she will get over it if they were offended - You didn't say anything bad...lay low for now LOL ; )

there is absolutely nothing fml appropiate about this there is.nothing wrong with asking a simple question. the op obviously didnt do it with ulterior ill intentions so this is absolutely not fml worthy. I highly doubt the guy in the wheelchair took it badly. if anyone thinks that this honest question is undeniably hurtful or rude to the other guy then u need to reeducate yourself on commin civil manners

I would t worry about it. You didn't know, and it wasn't really an offensive question. (:

It was an honest question, it's not like you would just assume that it was for someone disabled. You saw something odd and commented on it, no shame in that.

Don't worry, disabled people generally take a lot of BS and you weren't being mean. I really doubt the guy minded. It's a lot better than when people talk behind me and talk about how I must be "faking". I use a cane, I'm not deaf!
