I hope they weren't expensive
Even if cutting around that evil plastic packaging from hell with scissors, I can't imagine why you would be close enough to the wires to cut them accidentally. Wires and important things are usually tucked away safely away from any edge bits, often wrapped by the instruction leaflet in their own little bubble. You must have been doing it wrong.
Yeah I knew some idiot would say dogs are better. Dogs would eat the earbuds. They also eat their own shit and bark all day. Definitely not better.
Sure dogs eat and chew just about anything the can get, but my cat will chew on my headphones themselves. I don't see how one species is better than the other. Yes, my dogs bark a lot and are loud. But my cats hiss, meow, growl and whine at things (yes things, as in inanimate objects like my toilet or table for example) for no reason and are equally as loud.
You can solder the wire back on. There are videos on how to flux aux wires, watch one.
Same thing happened to me, except nothing startled or distracted me. I'm just that stupid. FYL
I once accidentally cut through the headphones when trying to open the packaging that was impossible to open and also did not clearly show where the headphones were. The shop refused to refund me.

Guess you could say it was a catastrophe.
How do you get startled by a cat meowing?
