Today, it was my first day working as a pharmacist. I quickly discovered that customers not only think that it makes me qualified to offer free medical advice, but they also have no qualms about showing me their various lumps, bumps, and vaginal leakages. FML

Pharmacists are ranked, year after year, as one of the most trusted occupations. Often times, the customer's situation can be helped by an over the counter product that can be bought in your store.

This happened to me while in Nursing SCHOOL by my friends, family, and family friends. Minus people showing me their vaginas.

How'd you get your pharmD and not expect that to happen in community pharmacy? Go back and do a residency while you're still young! Fyl.

I could tell countless silly stories similar to this, considering I'm a 3rd year pharmacy student and have worked in a pharmacy since I was 17. I have to wonder if you worked only in a hospital setting rather than a community pharmacy setting. As a pharmacist giving free medical advice IS your job. You have a PharmD. You might be a little green, but you'll learn to laugh at all the weird and/or gross things that come up. I love it. I always have some crazy story to tell (minus names and too much info for HIPAA, of course!). 8 years of college is too much to not find some enjoyment in a job! Or maybe you'll find you're better suited to hospital or long-term care pharmacy. Good luck!!

And now the puppy's eyes are open. You'll know that you're really a pharmacist when you get to the end of a day like this and tell your friends that nothing unusual happened.

Really? Funny, I just went there yesterday. Seems like it's still alive.

so you're a pharmacist that doesn't offer advice on medications to take? dang! so if you won't offer advice on which drugs, medications people should take, who does? I will however day they are going way to far if they are showing their privates to you lol

In the UK they actively encourage people to ask their pharmacists health questions. They often have private consultation rooms in pharmacies.
