Today, a customer brought his cat in to be euthanized. I told him to "have a nice day" as he was leaving. FML

I'm sure he knows you didn't intend to be rude or anything, we all **** up like that sometimes :)

I don't see how this is bad? I understand awkward but honestly what would said customer rather you do? Be silent? Tell them to have a shitty day? Lol maybe a "hope your day gets better!" would've been worded the right way I suppose...

I'm sorry for your loss would probably have been better.

How about a sincere "take care"?

Well, that sucks. It's okay, everyone makes mistakes. At least you tried to make his day better

That sucks for him. I don't think he will care that much though, you were trying to be nice. Good on you.

It could be worse, you could have just switched over from a fast food place and asked him "do you want fries with that?"

You'll be a good staff in a Pokemon Center. The nurses there says "hope to see you again" after you just brought your dying pet.

Well to be fair, what you said was better than telling him to have a bad day.
