Today, a customer came into the music shop I work in to look at guitars. After calling the customer "Dude," and "Man," numerous times, they stalked off suddenly. When I asked if everything was okay, they responded with, "I'm female, you asshole!" FML

Seems to me that lately "man" and "dude" are more just generic than an indication of gender and she's just overly sensitive. As floor sales you should probably refrain from calling customers man or dude unless you know them just as a matter of courtesy. I've been seeing too many people bitchin about spelling and grammar and stuff. The site isn't dedicated to the english language. This was not hard to understand.

Wait... terms like "dude" or even "guys" don't refer just to men anymore. Not so sure about "man" though. Still, who gets offended by that, especially in a music store.

Once a guy said something to me and I couldn't tell if he had called me "ma'am" or "man". I asked him to clarify, and he had said "man". I was relieved.

FYL, it's not your fault she looks like a dude and dresses like one too.

It's ok to say "dude" and "man" to women, they don't deserve us men's respect.
