No, no, here's what you do - you go "what was your name again?" And when they answer and get offended then you say "no, your last name." And boom, now you know both.

I would go with that but add onto it, "how do you spell your name again?" They answer "Oh I'm sorry, I meant your last name" and there you go

There's another FML very similar to this, between OP who was a person at work and a client that came in all the time, she asked how to spell his name to enter his contact information into her phone, and the name was Bob. This one's especially funny because the name is Rob.
