I've done this once. His name was Tim.
I've done this to a guy named ED! Thank god I was quick enough to say "I meant your last name!" which was actually quite hard to spell.
140 comments. And no one realized. That this actually happened in a comic strip called Pearls Before Swine. D:
#84...............if it were Rob Pattinson(ahhhh....LOVE HIME!!!) .....how could she forget that face...i mean come on. it's like imprinted on mine. lol btw....haha!!! it happened in that comic strip!! lol... twas probably the mouse
That's sad to him he's probally thinking you can't spell R0B
You really shouldn't feel like you have to ask people to spell their names. If I don't remember someone, I'm just honest about it. However, most people know the "how do you spell your name again" trick and so I'll bet he knew why you were asking him if his name is so common. 142 - I've heard of this happening to people before... it's a common (real or fictional) occurrence.

I always play the "how old are you?". "I dont believe you", "prove it, show me your license". Flattery makes people blind :)
Meh - I know a Robb or two. You could have made a semi graceful recovery - "Thought so, but my (fake) cousin has an extra 'b' in his".
