Today, a man at the comic book store I work at asked me if Spider-Man is based on a real story, and verbally abused me when, thinking he was joking, I laughed. He wasn't. FML

I always wanted to be Spider-Man, I thought I was so cool as a kid when I had those "web" shooting toy things that you strapped to your wrist.

So would have been like, "yeah bro, didn't you see the news last night? He saved a whole building from blowing up!" I'd totally mess with people like that!

Take a look at the movies just find a special little blue and red spider (sorry if incorrect) get bit and there you go spider man or woman..,

I have trouble believing anyone above the age of 8 could be THAT out of touch with reality, barring a serious mental condition. Are you sure he didn't mean to ask if it was based on an old-world myth or something?

There's a word for adults who can't tell reality from fantasy. The word is 'idiot'. Well, ok, sometimes it's 'psychotic'...

And another example of every generation slowly losing more and more touch with reality

Spider-Man is based on Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel Comics' life.
