icy_in_indiana tells us more.
To those who said I'm selfish for saying FML, I was just following the conventions of the site. Trust me, the situation was awkward for me, but I so feel so much more sorry for the lady who called. She was meaning to call who I assume to be family or a friend to ask for toilet paper, but instead called the grocery store. I stayed on the line for a short while, but since we're not allowed to take personal calls at work, I had to refer her to someone else. I can only hope that she found someone to keep her company.

Well kudos to you OP for staying on the phone, that poor woman was probably trying to reach a suicide help line.
Aw OP :( I had a similar experience at my job. A woman came in crying, telling me how her husband had been in a terrible accident and was rushed to the hospital over helicopter. It was a little awkward, but sometimes, they just need someone to listen to them.
Have you ever heard of prank dial it's a app. It's exactly what this is.. I did it to someone myself
.
HAHAHA THAT'S A PRANK CALL SYSTEM!!! It's called "prank dial" and the lady is "crazy old lady"
why is this an fml? **** your life because somebody who needed someone to talk to was talking to you ? wow such problems
F her life, not yours.
This is heartbreaking
This same thing happened to my friend. She probably just needed someone to talk to, and I bet it meant more to her than you know that you were there for her :)

That's a horrible situation :( sounds like she just needed someone to talk to.
You're an awesome person for staying on the phone with her. I hope you told her about any sales you had going on.
