Today, after having saved up my money for months to buy my college-bound son the car of his dreams, I got a phone call telling me it had been totalled during a drag-race. I only gave him the keys two days ago. FML

You raised an inconsiderate, disrespectful, spoiled brat. Congrats

Thats why smart parents don't give their kids really nice cars. It WILL get wrecked, even if it's just a little ding. If he's in college, he should be paying for it, especially since I'm assuming your paying for his college.

I hope you are gonna make him work to make money for a new one

Totally agree with you, my first car was a 1998 Nissan Maxima that would always break down or need repairs but it did teach me a lot about how to take care of a car so when I finally got my new car I knew what NOT to do!

The car of his dreams should have been purchased by him with the money he earned from the job he got after graduating from college.

So you made a nice gesture for your son. Good for you. Not all teenagers are ungrateful. We're living in a society with a lot of generalizations that are not always true. Nowadays doing something nice for your kid is viewed as spoiling them and not building character. It sucks that he totaled it, but it's not your fault, OP.

wow, the car of his dreams, and he raced it? crazy. guess this is why you only by kids an $800 beater, cause thats what they'll do to it
