Don't feel bad, your mom isn't the only one..
The dog never writes, never calls.
True but you can Skype with them. I saw it on YouTube. This guy deployed in Afghanistan was skyping with his dog. The dog recognized his voice or his likeness and was excited.
I hate when people pretend pets are children. It's very strange and a little unnerving to me. Yes, they are similar. No, they are not equivalent.
You completely missed the point. It has nothing to do with whether you think you birthed it or not (wtf?) I'm saying animals do not equal people. I'm not saying your horse isn't your baby, I'm saying it's really ******* weird, and oh yeah, it's a ******* HORSE.
People ARE animals. Is our intelligence higher? Yes. Do we follow instincts? To a point, yes. To put humans above an animal, and refer to them like they're 'less' is sickening. Animals still require attention, care, and your time just like a child or any other human. They can love back and they're pretty ******* smart. My dog is my baby, because I don't want an actual child. He's all I need and all I want to take care of, and trust me, he's just as smart as a young child. So is my moms dog. I call her my sister too. They are a part of the family. He knows who he likes and who he doesn't like. If you treat an animal wrong, they may (or may not) love you, and they may become disobedient. Hell, my dog avoids my boyfriend because he yells at the pooch for something so trivial. People can have their opinions, and there is mine. Animals are not equals yes, but don't disregard them as anything less. I'd go on but it's already too long.
I also find it weird when people call their cat or dog their "brother" or "sister". It seems creepy to me. Yes, they're family, but I think they're family in the same way that friends are your family. They love you like a brother or sister, and are always there for you, but they're not genetically related. Even I only call my cat "my baby" because I take care of her and she's so cute. I don't act like I'm her mother.
Pets are family!
My mom does that to me with the cat...and I'm the one that wanted him so he's MY cat lol.
You should refer to your mum as "granny" to the cat. In front of her, of course.
That reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw. It said "I
@53 I what? Don't leave us in suspense!
Get over yourself.

Like the dog would've understood... Still though, many people attach human-level emotions to pets, me included
