Yep as a fellow Irish woman can safely tell you that's illegal. You're entitled to a break every 3-4 hours.. Go visit citizens information or definitely report to labour relations! I had to do that and best thing I ever did -

Because it is the LAW which entitles you to a break.

That's messed up. I smoke and need my smoke breaks, but that's just how I spend my break. You deserve the same exact break no matter how the **** you want to spend it. It's about getting your mind straight for a few, sitting down, and relaxing. However you choose to do that. What a ****.

Well, depending on local city/state/etc laws, length of shift, and total hours worked in a week, you might not be legally entitled to a break. Still, the boss's reasoning is stupid and/or bullshit.

Wow OP. Hope you find a better job. Try reporting him, they do actually have to give you a break.
