Today, after telling a friend I was contemplating asking a girl to prom, my friend took my phone, told me to have some balls, and texted the girl asking her to prom. She said no, because I asked her over text instead of in person. She refuses to believe I didn't send the text. FML

Today, I was planning on asking out a girl I've been really close to for a few months now. I was with her when I got a forward text from my friend. It was from the girl and it said, "Noooo tell him not to ask me out I don't like him." I got rejected via a forwarded text before I could tell her how I felt. FML

Did you explain over text as well or in person? Maybe you should contact her face to face, with friend in tow so friend can confirm the story and apologize like a big boy, and ask her to prom again.

As a girl who never got asked to anything by anyone in high school, I'm telling you that her response is shallow and entitled. It's not like you proposed marriage to her via text, it's just prom. I'm sure that you have other female friends who would love to be asked.
