Hypocrite: 1.a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs. You are using that word completely incorrectly so I had to assume you don't really know what it means.

The OP told her friend not to hand a random stranger her purse because he could steal it. That doesn't mean the OP is a hypocrite when her own stuff is stolen from one of her pockets. They were still practicing what they preached, it just didn't work out for them. It's more Irony than anything. (I write more than a few lines a comment or it won't post, hence the two comments)

It was a bag, not a purse. Maybe the concert was outdoors, so the bag was a tote with water, sunscreen, etc. Or maybe the friend hit the merch booth and went crazy.
