Today, at my job at a ceramics store, I was loading a $300 statuette into a woman's car when I saw a dismembered foot in the trunk. I was so startled that I dropped the statuette and it shattered. Turns out the foot was fake and now my boss says I have to pay for the damage. FML

You should not have to foot the bill on that.

That toetally sucks that you have to pay for it.

If you are in USA a lot of states have laws prohibiting you from owing money to an employer for damage done while on duty.

I'm not sure about where you live but in Canada you do not have to pay for any damages you cause. Look in to it.

That pun doesn't work here.

Oops. I accidentally vited "you deserved it" truly sorry lol. That seriously sucks though OP. She shouldn't keep that stuff in her car

YDI. You were currently loading a ceramic statue into the car; why would you be surprised if they have bits and pieces of other art projects too? Don't be so jumpy.

I must be the complete opposite of you most things like two girls one cup one man one jar people chopping their dicks off doesn't bother me the tiniest bit

There is no law anywhere that says you are liable for things broken on the job in the normal course of your work. So really the only way you have to pay is if you want to keep your job. If your job sucks just quit and tell them to **** off.

Stores have insurance specifically for things like damaged merchandise. Your boss is being a dick.

I would agree to pay the bill and tell my boss in no uncertain terms that i refuse to take anything out to anyone's car anymore.
