Today, at work, a woman came up to the counter and asked if we made sweet and sour chicken. Before I could answer, she told me a really long recipe and said "I expect to see this on the menu next time I come in, or I will complain to the manager about your lousy work ethic". I work at Starbucks. FML

uhhhhh. xD I think you need to warn the manager about the crazy lady demanding sweet and sour chicken.

Something similar happened to me once. I was working in a B&N cafe (which is basically a Starbucks, but owned by B&N) and this guy came in--in his 20s, so young enough to know better--and was like, "How do you make your chai? Is it with some kind of nasty syrup?" I told him that yes, we did use a syrup, but that it wasn't too nasty. He was then like, "No. That's no good," and he proceeded to tell me various chai suppliers in the area, as if I, a barista at a bookstore, had any authority to change where a large, national corporation bought its chai.

That's when you tell her "hold on, I'll get my supervisor. Tell him your recipe."

I would be like: "Sorry, we're in Starbucks." "Don't talk back to your queen." "Wah?" *Gets slapped in the face* "Hey, you don't have the right to-" *Slapped again* "But-" *Slapped* "Okay, okay- I'll make your damn chicken!" *Slapped again*

maybe the lady needs to start reading which food shop she enters before she starts making judgements..

What I find most disturbing reading this one is, having been in Starbucks and all hours before, there are other employees there. I find it insane that they just stood there and let that happen. But then, with the food service culture so saturated with "the customer is always right" garbage, I cannot blame them. I have been a lot in that industry, from the person mopping the floors to management, and I say no, they are not always right. That woman probably did it just to make herself feel better about something, and did not care whose day she ruined in the process.

Pssh... tell your manager ANYWAY. Sweet and sour chicken... Really? At my job if a customer gives us a hard time and even uses the "BAD WORK ETHIC" card my manager simply goes "GTFO, I don't want your business here."

;_; I feel your pain, fellow partner. I truly do.
