I'm guessing the two might be somehow connected
I've never understood why people hunt for parking. My college parking lots are always packed but you can always find spots in the far, far, way back. Suck it up and walk. The time spent walking is probably less than the time spent circling waiting for someone close to pull out. Also, if there are no spots available at all, which I doubt, you should know by now since the semester is half over that you need to get there early.
Though I personally just take the bus, I think I can understand why some people would find it worth hunting for parking, depending. I mean, at my school the far end of parking is maybe a 15min walk, and when it snows it's even longer because you've got to go all the way around following a path. So if someone has to choose between walking 15-20 minutes in -25C degree weather, with freezing wind/rain, and maybe a ton of school equipment to carry, I could understand maybe why they'd take the extra time to find parking. Not to mention people who are sick/injured/pregnant. And if you have an afternoon class (like 1pm), it doesn't really make sense to show up to school at 7am just so you can park right away, rather than just arriving at 12:15 and taking the 10 minutes to spot-hunt. Otherwise though, I agree with you. If it's a nice day, you don't have a ton to carry, and you're well and able, then walking a bit extra is really not that big a deal. Or if you have a morning class, yeah, come early if possible.
#30 OP implies they don't typically make it on time to class. Time management is part of being an adult. Every morning I park in the same area even though it's pretty far from the building because closer is full, and I know that. In doing so, I factor how long it takes me to walk to class as well, and am never caught off guard by time. If OP isn't making it to class on time, I say it's 100% their fault.
My university car parks are always full, even the ones at the back. I live in another city so I can't just take the bus or walk, and driving to university everyday is a hell of a lot cheaper than living in halls of residence there.
Yeah, I know that in OP's case it's their own fault for not managing their time properly. My comment wasn't really about making it to class on time though, and more in response to the first half of #29's. They were saying they couldn't understand why people (so not OP, but people in general) try to hunt for parking spots up close instead of just taking further ones, so I gave a suggestion (injured, pregnant, bad weather, etc...) as to why some people might find it more beneficial to take the extra time than to walk. Of course I understand that if they wish to do so, they need to leave 10-15 minutes earlier to make it on time, but time management was besides the point I was trying to make.
Normally if one can't make it on time you can leave earlier to ensure you make it on time. Maybe it's just common sense and you can change universities where you can learn how to manage time
Well you now know the time to be there...right?
E-mail is a thing teach. I had to drive 45 minutes to get to class. I would have been PISSED.
I really do understand your pain. I currently go to a university in England and I drive there everyday. When I don't have lectures at 9am I can never get a space. Yesterday it took me 30 mins just trying to find one in any of the many university car parks and I was late for class. It's just ridiculous, I paid for a parking permit and I can't even get a space!
Hope you made the best of if and caught up or did some other classes HW.
is this really a problem?

Wow I'm sorry man. I've been there before. My university is usually packed by the time I get there for my classes. I've had to park in the weirdest spots just to make it to class
When I was at college I usually got there half an hour to an hour early so I could troll for parking and then study or finish homework with the extra time.
