so much irony on this site
Concession cards are cards which students have to carry with them on the train/tram/bus in order to get cheaper tickets. If you buy a ticket at a concession price but don't have a concession card (like the OP) then you get fined (even if your in school uniform, they just want the revenue). Not only that its a $170 fine each time, and all of the public transport here is absolute rubbish anyway. The fines just go towards building more freeways >_< A definite FYL from a fellow Melbournian. I know your pain....
Actually, the fines just pay for the inspector's wages. The revenue from fines doesn't go to freeways, or even train infrastructure, it simply pays their wage. Isn't that reassuring. Fines pay for them to issue more fines.
hehe, i joined this just so i could say that I, too, am a fellow Melbournian and appreciate how much that sucks. Those connex guys just don't give us a break! Oh well, they're get replaced soon. See what happens... It's prob cheaper to go concess and get a fine than to go full fare all the time anyway!!
That blew my mind, I have no idea what you were saying OP.
Haha, the minute I read this, I knew you were from Melbourne because it doesn't matter about any circumstance or issue you have, the Connex/Metlink ticket inspectors will try their best to drain any cent out of you as they get commision from doing it.
who takes the train?
This confused me so much
Oh the irony.

What the heck is a concession card?
i have been to melbourne and i've heard how the connex (the train company) officers fine people unreasonably. concession cards are like lower fare train tickets for students/kids. most of the stories i've heard from people involve forgetting their tickets... if you photocopy your existing ticket (which has a date stamp that proves you've bought one while you were on a ride at that time) and send the photocopy in, they might believe you and not fine you. i know how sucky those officers are so i agree fyl. but i don't get why you didn't show them the photocopy you just made, or did you forget that too... which is too stupid because what was the point of going to photocopy and leaving emptyhanded.
