Today, I almost got our office burned down by plugging the wrong charger into a laptop cooling fan. Tried to hide the incident and kept it casual but the smoke detector led it to my area and everyone knew I was the culprit. I'm a new hire too. FML

Owning up to your mistakes makes a better impression than hiding them.

Just admit to your mistake and apologize. Everyone makes mistakes and ones people own up too can be forgiven

What's going on, op? You can plug the charger into a socket, how can you possibly plug it into a cooling fan? Seems like you did something really dumb there

"OP started the fire, it was always burning, hey the temps still learning, but he didn't hide it, because Dwight did find it" - The Office

Face the music and your new co-workers and boss will respect you more than If you hide it

shouldn't have hidden it. If they keep you, they are not likely to trust you.

Ahahaha omg I just commented that and then saw yours. I'm crying XD glad I'm not the only one who thought that bahaha.

Ryan started the fire! It was always burning since the world was turning! -it's a quote (song really) from The Office where the temp starts a fire, for those who don't get it

why are some plugs still exclusive to certain outlets?? or did you do something really stupid like mix and match American and european??

One time I was at a client (I'm a consultant) and they sat me at a desk where I bumped something that hit something that shut down a server. I had no idea it happened or I did it. But when I realized what happened I said, "I had no idea I did that. I sure am sorry!" Funny thing, they ended up liking me so much they gave me a tour and a bunch of souvenirs. Moral of the story, own up and be sincere. It goes a loooong way.
