Today, I asked my husband to watch our kids while I cooked food for him. Apparently I asked in the wrong tone, because now he's pouting and won't eat. FML

Leave him be - he won't starve, he's a grown man, despite not acting like one.

Instead, he is acting like one of the kids.

He's a husband and father, you shouldn't have to ask him to watch the kids; that's literally the definition of being a parent. It should not be treated as a special request to spend time with your own children.

I'm hoping you made a mistake and meant "oldest child" instead of "husband".

YDI...Don't you know you have to ASK Dad NICELY to babysit?! I mean, you wouldn't call up the neighbor girl and SAY "Keep an eye on my children while I..." No. You would call and POLITELY ASK "Would you mind watching my children for x length of time? I would like to y. If you can, I will compensate you with z. I would very much appreciate it." So WHY, IN MOTHER NATURE'S GREEN EARTH, would you ASSUME that Dad would be ANY DIFFERENT. Maybe next time you should ask a lot nicer. And I GUARANTEE your chances will increase if you offer (AND FOLLOW THROUGH ON GIVING) a blowie. ☺

They're his kids, too. It's not at all the same as a neighbour, who has no obligation toward the kids. A man should not have to be asked (let alone bribed) to take care of his own children, he should just be doing it.

i dont know....in cases like that i always think that there are 2 sides of the story

A real father doesn't "babysit" his own kids it's a no brainer to take care of the kids while your spouse is cooking or doing other domestic duties

Congratulations, you married a man-child.
