It's understandable..I mean that's a mistake anyone could make but I doubt the person will hate you for it. Most people are pretty forgiving of misunderstandings like this!
You may have not known, but it's really the thought that counts. Plus, flowers are for everyone. They smell great and aren't girly.
More like F the coworkers life Op you deserved that one..
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, since it seems like you didn't know her father passed away.
If she didn't know her co-workers dad passed away they're probably not close, therefore making it just plain rude to criticize her gift choice.
Aww you should feel guilty.
Op, you're an asshole, although obviously you didn't know. :( but, that made me so sad to read.... I mean, if society didn't have such a conception of what is "masculine" and what is "feminine" our relationships and livelihoods wouldn't be so messed-up, and this sad situation wouldn't have came up. I mean, men should be able to show their emotions and accept flowers for a gift without it such a taboo that he must be "gay" etc etc etc.

Maybe that'll teach you to be so judgmental
You couldn't have possibly known about her dead father, but you still should have been more sensitive about her gift choice. No need to be rude about it.
