You should have said: well I've got plenty and walked out.
Everyone is accusing her of fishing for compliments, but I don't think that applies when it's someone you're dating. You want to know that the relationship isn't based on something silly.
I feel this question goes right up there with "am I fat" and "do you think I'm pretty." It's a baiting question that will either start a fight, a lie, or a smart ass response. If he's treating badly to the point that you need to ask this question his motives, the relationship is already done. If you're asking this question fishing for compliments then stop, because it's a mind game.
Dump him you can do better.
I hope you know that you have options, and being single night be a better one than dating a guy who is happy to make you feel like something he settled for.
Now the question is if he actually is dating you because he likes you...
Let me guess; Kettering, MSOE, Rose-Hulman, Michigan Tech, or Lawrence Tech?
Get rid of that turd in the punch bowl. Don't waste your time and affections.
Wow I would end things if it were me, that's an incredibly hurtful thing to say. I'm sure you're a lovely person who deserves to be domes first choice, not their only option.

Don't ask the question if you think you may not like the answer.
Why would you ask that anyway?
