yes that sucks but kind of of what you get for having cats? They're awful creatures
It was probably just trying to self clean it's teeth. Cats do that with plants and plastics the most. It probably enjoyed the texture. Try covering your wires and see if your cat likes chewing on straws.
I have a friend whose cat tries to do the same thing with her 3ds charger cord. For some reason, cats just seem to love chewing cords.
Try having your cat chew through the cord of your $100 Razer Mouse AND the cord of your $100 Turtle Beach Headset all in the same day.
I wonder if Nintendogs has anything to do with your cat's decision
Honestly if I were you I would have just waited for an NX
you deserve it, it is 2016 and you bought a Wii U
Man that suck! Make sure you cat hasn't eaten any of that wire though.
Cat owners seem more and more like owners of small dog. Just because the animal is small it doesn't mean it doesn't need to be trained/disciplined.

Your cat probably works for Microsoft or Sony.
Agree with #3. Strip about an inch off the mangled ends of each wire and splice them back together with butt splices. Wrap some electrical tape around it for good measure. Cost you about 5-10 bucks
