The same thing happened to me after a one-month relationship! So I told the next guy I was with that I was gay to save the trouble of hurting him, his response was "so we can have a threesome!?!" Taking him a while to realize he wouldn't be invited. Retards.
I have to say; thank you for trying to do the right thing, and breaking up with him in person. Hopefully he gets over it soon, and you can both move on with your lives.
