Of course you didn't deserve it. You were only trying to help. And think about it, you did. Not only did you listen to him, but you lost your wallet to him. And yes, it sucks, but don't let it stop you from being good to others. Just be more cautious the next time!

PSA: no one deserves the bad things that others do to them. Even if they are shitty people, they didn't decide that they'd go out and get mugged/raped/murdered that day so it's not their fault, ever.

Don't let one a-hole discourage you! You did the right thing and got something you shouldn't had.

Sometimes paranoia is a good thing. I too talk to people in situations like that. But I try to do it in a situation where I know someone is looking out for me. We have a lot of homeless here and I got use to helping ones in front of the stores I frequent. The people know me and keep an eye out for me. Not fool proof but it does lower the risk. Don't stop trying to help people. Just maybe in the future, look out for yourself in the process. Sorry that your kindness was met with such a response.

Ya it's a shame that those Are the ones that make people think that all of them are like that and do that if ya try to help them. But we still need to try.

I had that happen a few years ago. They bumped into me in a crowded area, ripped my purse from me and ran into the crowd before I could even register what happened. This all took place in under 5sec so I totally get where you're coming from.
