So? Most hospitals have stopped using latex gloves, anyway.

Actually, many pieces of medical equipment like tubing are made of latex to save money on medical equipment.

then u should kno latex is no longer used in hospitals

Wow really? I had my son at the hospital the other day and guess what was everywhere? LATEX! The ONLY hospital in this area that does not use latex is the Children's Hospital 30 miles away. Don't believe me? Make some calls!

Mom's a nurse, allergic to latex, uses an alternative

it's called "nitrile". Most hospitals don't use latex anymore anyways. Idiot.

Wow all of these smart people saying to wear non latex gloves! That would be a perfect solution if only the other hundreds of employees weren't wearing latex! Perhaps this intelligent med student knows that latex can become airborne by others wearing latex especially powdered latex. Every time someone snaps on or off a latex glove they are producing latex particles. When a latex allergic person breathes in these particles they can indeed go into anaphylactic shock, I know, I've been there! I worked in a hospital for 5 yrs before my allergy appeared. A latex allergy is the type of allergy that worsens upon exposure. It may start out as itching or hives, but if you continue to be exposed it could get worse, including death. There are SOME latex safe hospitals, but not as many as you would think. Stay safe!

all hospitals in the uk don't use latex gloves any more in case patients are allergic to latex! This is also the case for most countries! For a third year medic, you know sweet F A about your profession!!
