Well, you and every other more liberal Christian are also picking and choosing just as much as the Westboro knob ends. All the hatred, genocide, slavery, xenophobia and general bigotry are just as much a part of the bible as the peace and love related verses. Theologically speaking, you're all just picking and choosing what parts to take seriously and what parts to ignore based on your existing morals.

Anyone fighting in the name of their religion obviously did not study their religion well. #31 when someone gives me a line from the Bible, I like to look it up and read the context it came from. I will admit sometimes I have picked a line from the Bible to support an argument, but I do try to make sure it is in the context in which its written. I would nave try to use the Bible to judge somebody. All judgments I make are my own. Although I do try not to judge people, I have done so. And people like the Westboro church group, I will call them freaks for disrespecting our fallen soldiers for dying in the line of duty to protect their right to protest them because they fight in an armed force threat accepts homosexuals.

Actually, I think religions exist maybe because some people want to reign other people. They create some belief to make people believe and obey their rules.

its fine to pick and choose parts of the bible, I mean some stories I don't believe and some I find weird and don't understand the morales of some, but what they do is take it and manipulate it to seem bad, which is what no one should do, negativity and sadism are awful. Optimism! live life how you want because if some one does something you don't want you can still make the best out of it! I love all beliefs and religions btw :p

But... surely the Westboro Baptist church isn't something that should be tolerated? Maybe you think differently, but I don't think the picketing of soliders' funerals, including the use of signs saying things like "Thank god for dead soldiers!", should be tolerated at all.

Pure tolerance doesn't exist. Or in other words, there are nothing a hundred percent pure. People do things just for needs, but we can never tell what we do or what we want is good or bad. Sometimes even the line between good and bad is obscure.
